Discussion guide for teachers and parents

Aim

Distinguishing a real recording from a misleading new caption.

0–3 minutes: recall an important scene. 3–10 minutes: discuss the questions. 10–15 minutes: try the joint activity and invite everyone to name a possible next step.

Discussion starters

  1. Which details make the characters start to question the video?
  2. Does the repeated bird prove that the video is fake?
  3. Which source clarifies today’s programme, and what would you correct in a forwarded message?

Notes for the adult – not a fixed model answer

Summer leaves, daylight and repetition raise questions but do not by themselves prove manipulation or AI use. An old demonstration has been given a misleading new caption. The official programme and organiser clarify the event: an early-evening light projection, with no personal fireworks.

Shorter version: choose one question. Longer version: compare two possible solutions.

To finish: name one clue from the story and one step you would try in a similar situation.

A way to start the conversation

It looks interesting. Let us first find out when it was made and what the organiser says. Then we can decide whether to share it.

Discussion starters: Which details make the characters start to question the video? Which source clarifies today’s programme, and what would you correct in a forwarded message?

Try it together

Write a two-sentence correction for someone who already received the video. Include the checked programme and where it can be verified. Use fictional details; do not ask anyone to bring fireworks.

Keep the discussion about the characters; no one has to share personal experiences. Passing is welcome and answers are not graded. Do not ask for real personal details. Asking for help should not lead to shame or automatic punishment.
